The Walk Against Hunger brings people together to
raise funds that assist struggling families in our region with
food. The money raised at the Walk Against Hunger is distributed
to organizations throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and
Southern New Jersey that provide food and other services to families and individuals.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors Hunger and Homelessness Survey 2008 reported that emergency feeding programs in the Greater Philadelphia area have seen a 23% increase in demand for food over the last year while at the same 26% less food was distributed to meet that need due to cuts in funding. Your contributions to the Walk Against Hunger will help to meet the need and feed our struggling neighbors.
The Walk Against Hunger is sponsored by the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger a nonprofit organization fighting hunger through outreach, education, and advocacy. To learn more about the Coalition, visit its website at www.hungercoalition.org. From there you also can explore the websites of other local, statewide, and national anti-hunger groups.
A truly just society sees to the needs of its poor while protecting them from feeling shame. The Walk Against Hunger helps to meet those needs, and the Coalition Against Hunger works to build a more just society.
