Get Involved With the Walk Against Hunger

How to get involved in the Walk Against Hunger:

Form a Team, and Walk!
Organize a team at your school or workplace. Or gather your friends and family members to walk as a team.

  • Check back in January 2009 to learn how to register your team and download team leader kits and contribution forms.

Walk Without a Team!
You don't need to be part of a team to Walk Against Hunger. Individuals can also register, but don't forget to find contributors for your effort.

  • Check back in January 2009 to register as an individual and to download contribution forms.

Collect Contributions
It’s never too soon to set a fundraising goal and start finding sponsors early. Ask those who are not walking to support your participation by contributing to your effort. Once you have registered for the Walk, you can create your own Walk web page where you can record individual donations. From your web page you can email friends and family, encouraging them to help you fight hunger.

Wear a Walk T-Shirt
Each year, we offer a uniquely designed Walk t-shirt.

We still have some 2008 Walk t-shirts available for sale. For all sizes (Small, Large, X-Large, 2X and 3X), we are selling 1 t-shirt for $8, 2 for $12, 4 for $20 and 6 for $25.

  • Check back in January 2009 for details on next year’s Walk t-shirt.

Win Raffle Prizes
Sometimes a little incentive goes a long way toward encouraging folks to collect contributions for the Walk Against Hunger. Every year, we solicit raffle prizes from local restaurants, hotels, sports teams, and other generous sources. Airline tickets, dinner and movie packages, local entertainment packages – sound good? You could win one of next year’s prizes. Just turn in your pledges by the deadline – usually about one week before the Walk.

Get Involved with the Walk Against HungerWalk Day Instructions & Route
For 2008, the Walk kicked-off from Eakins Oval on the Benjamin Franklin parkway, just across from the Philadelphia Art Museum steps. Walkers made their way north on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, formerly West River Drive, to the Strawberry Mansion Bridge, then turned around and came back the same way. The Drive was blocked to automobile traffic, making it safe for all to walk.
