Walk Kick-Off Map at Eakin's Oval — 2008
The map below depicts the 6-mile Walk Route. Beginning at the Eakins
Oval, you'll walk north from Center City along Martin Luther King Drive.
This portion of the route is closed to automobile traffic, so you
are free to walk in the roadway. At the 3-mile point (near the Strawberry Mansion Bridge), you'll reach
the turn-around point. Here you can wait for a shuttle bus that will take you back to the start point.
(Be forewarned—the wait can be long). Most walkers will rest
for a few minutes, have some water, turn around, and walk the 3
miles back to the Art Museum. If you walk at a steady pace, you'll
complete the course in 2 ½ hours.
All along the Walk Route you'll see markers indicating just how
far you've come. You'll also be able to enjoy bottled water, fresh
fruit, and other snacks, courtesy of our Walk Against Hunger partners.
And to keep you entertained, there will be a variety of performing
groups offering song, dance, and more.
Want to Walk but just can't manage 6 or even 3 miles? Consider the
One-Mile Stroll.
